And here was I thinking you'd be in your element at game nights. We're talking board games and trivia, right?

Technically, you’re right. But it depends on whose game night it is and who’s going to be there. And which game(s) will be played. It’s a very difficult balance to get right. Now that I’m thinking about it, it’s kind of a game in and of itself. Now, THAT I’d play.

This made me laugh really hard... and also cringe with horrible workplace memories... and then laugh really hard again.

Thank you, Robin! I’m really glad you liked it. I cringed at some workplace memories too when writing it. That stuff can be so gross.

YES to the jargon in this. I like to sound obnoxiously office-y by saying stuff like 'pivot into', 'circle back' or 'the so-and-so space' but you really take the cake here and I love it.

That makes me so happy, Jane. I really tried to “lean in” on that stuff. Do you also have people in your life “double-clicking” on things that they want to take a “deep dive” into? I can’t believe I forgot “pivot”!

Haha 'double-clicking' was my favorite! Still unsure whether this is an actual word people use or not...? (I work in a lab which is decidedly un-office-y so I honestly don't know.)

I regret to inform you that it’s real, and it’s spreading. I hear it at least twice a week, usually more.

Very cute. Our brains could use some HR intervention. I once wrote about calling my brain on its antics.

Can you imagine the various behavioral seminars HR would make our brains sit through? They’d never get anything else done.
