Hey, thanks for making the time. I know you have a lot to do around here so I’ll try to keep this brief. Here’s my standard reminder of the rating system. As you know, each category gets a ranking from one to five: 5 — Outstanding 4 — Exceeds Expectations
YES to the jargon in this. I like to sound obnoxiously office-y by saying stuff like 'pivot into', 'circle back' or 'the so-and-so space' but you really take the cake here and I love it.
That makes me so happy, Jane. I really tried to “lean in” on that stuff. Do you also have people in your life “double-clicking” on things that they want to take a “deep dive” into? I can’t believe I forgot “pivot”!
Haha 'double-clicking' was my favorite! Still unsure whether this is an actual word people use or not...? (I work in a lab which is decidedly un-office-y so I honestly don't know.)
This made me laugh really hard... and also cringe with horrible workplace memories... and then laugh really hard again.
Thank you, Robin! I’m really glad you liked it. I cringed at some workplace memories too when writing it. That stuff can be so gross.
Hit them both! Hit them both! That works on many levels in this wonderful piece...
Hahaha! Thanks, Beth!
Great piece - I particularly like the effective deployment of the spam folder - brilliant!
Thank you so much, Bill! I appreciate you reading and taking the time to comment.

I regret to inform you that it’s real, and it’s spreading. I hear it at least twice a week, usually more.
Upsetting yet hilarious
Ha, I love this, Chris! So funny and clever (and relatable) :)
Thanks so much, Jenna! I hope your brain’s 2Q has been off to a great start!
This made me laugh out loud and forward to my husband. Thank you!
Thank you, Kelsey! That makes me happy to hear. I hope your husband enjoys it too!
This is a hoot, Chris! Original, creative, funny but so relatable! So sorry I didn't comment yesterday, though. Your post was in my Spam folder. 😉
Hahaha that damn Spam folder! Thanks for reading and for your kind words, Cherie--I really appreciate it!
Down to clown 🤣
Very cute. Our brains could use some HR intervention. I once wrote about calling my brain on its antics.
Can you imagine the various behavioral seminars HR would make our brains sit through? They’d never get anything else done.
Endless.
